Maintenance

Marble is naturally a porous stone, meaning it’s a softer material than a granite or quartzite so it is more vulnerable to etching and scratching. Sealants have had advancements in technology, so the chance of marble staining isn’t quite as high as it used to be which is a plus. If something acidic spills on it and you’re unable to clean it up right away, the likelihood of marble countertops staining isn’t as big of a problem. This makes it a good choice for your countertop, even if there’s still some extra care required. Sealants are common to use when marble is used as a countertop surface, and this will help with protection against staining. No matter what type of natural stone you select for your countertops, the care and maintenance of your marble surface is very important.
